About Planetary Health

Planetary health is a concept that explores how the Earth’s natural systems and human health are interconnected.

While much attention is given to how human activities affect the Earth’s natural systems, it is important to understand how these environmental changes impact our health and to rethink the role of the health sector in addressing these issues. Specifically, the roles that the health sector should play include (1) reducing its own environmental burden, including decarbonizing healthcare facilities, and (2) educating the public about the importance of preserving the environment to protect people’s health and well-being.

HGPI will propose actions that the healthcare sector and society should take to achieve health, well-being, and equity in response to global challenges.”
